The 12th Annual Shoe Box Reception and Holiday Mart was a huge success. There was a terrific turn-out and almost 1,000 wrapped shoe boxes filled with gifts were collected. These gifts will be delivered to clients of Meals on Wheels PLUS throughout the holidays! Too often, these gifts are the only gift the clients receive.
Please join us at Daybreak Adult Day Center Sunday, December 3rd at 4 pm to 6 pm. Enjoy light snacks, cash bar, raffle, and holiday marketplaceall to benefit the elderly in Manatee County!
Our goal is to collect 1,000 shoe boxes that will be delivered to home-bound seniors for Christmas. These boxes are often the only Holiday gift seniors receive. Bring a shoe box filled with items such as toiletries, puzzle books, moisturizing lotion, pens/pencils, Christmas trinkets, and slipper socks (or make a $20 donation to Meals on Wheels PLUS).

Give Gifts of Hope by making a contribution of time, talent, or treasure this holiday season. There are so many ways to give back:
Start a new family Holiday tradition! Grab a box or a basket and add a shelf-stable food item each day through the Holiday season. Once full, you can take the food items to the Food Bank of Manatee, where volunteers will sort the food to prepare it for distribution into the community. A reverse Advent calendar can be a fun way to introduce a food drive at work or home while getting others into the giving spirit.
For every new Subaru vehicle leased or sold from November 16, 2017, through January 2, 2018, Subaru will donate $250 to Meals on Wheels PLUS when customers designate Meals on Wheels as their charity.
In the past nine years, Subaru of America has donated over $12 million to the Meals on Wheels network—that’s the equivalent of more than 1.7 million meals to seniors across the country!
Meals on Wheels America is one of four national participating charities and has been since the inception of the Event. Through this campaign, as a Member of Meals on Wheels America, Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee will receive a share of the revenue earned in Florida.
If you’re in the market for a new car, please look into the Share the Love Event to learn more. If you’re not shopping for a new vehicle, you can still help by spreading the word to your family and friends.
