Job Summary:

Responsible for supervision and delivery of all accounting, grant reporting, IT, HR, payroll and risk management functions.

Major Responsibilities: 

  • Supervising, coaching, counseling and mentoring of staff in performing all accounting, HR, and risk management functions.
  • Manage payroll function. including timesheets, journal entries and biweekly processing. Maintain confidential employee personnel files and other records related to payroll.
  • Monitor employee leave and PTO accruals, benefits and other payroll deductions for accuracy.
  • Oversee onboarding process and counsel with current employees concerning pay/benefit issues and assist the CFO as needed with the Human Resource function.
  • Reconcile bank accounts monthly.
  • Supervise the general ledger and accounts payable function ensuring that vendor invoices are processed, recorded and paid in an accurate, timely manner. Maintains batch and vendor files for reference and audit.
  • Supervise/perform the billing and grants reporting function ensuring that invoices, payment requests and required grant reports are completed and filed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • With CFO, serve as principal contact with funders for applications, information requests, accounting and monitoring.
  • Responsible for closing each month, and assisting CFO with monthly financial statements; recording of monthly billing, grant reports and other activity; program and organizational budgets; maintenance of Blackbaud general ledger and fixed asset system; and preparing/recording appropriate journal entries at month end.
  • Principal liaison with payroll, benefits and insurance providers.
    Other duties and tasks as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • CPA preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting and supervisory experience required
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and general accounting procedures
  • Non-profit and HR experience preferred.

Special Skills

Required:

  • Computer literacy and working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including intermediate to advanced excel skills
  • Working knowledge of Blackbaud Financial Edge a plus
  • Ability to sit for long periods with extended work at a video display terminal.
  • Experience in handling multiple, concurrent tasks and meeting deadlines
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision.
  • Ability to function as a member of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, internally and with outside partners
  • Ability to follow up and remember directions.
  • Confidentiality due to nature of position.
