2018 in Review

Thanks to you, Meals on Wheels PLUS is celebrating the impact that our sponsors, donors, volunteers, and partner agencies made in Manatee County during 2018!

200,000 nutritious hot meals, dinners, and holiday meals were delivered to approximately 750 home-bound elderly by 300 volunteers over 52 routes in Manatee County. Additionally, volunteers delivered 20,000 pounds of fresh produce through the new Produce on Wheels program.

Assisted by 622 volunteers, The Food Bank of Manatee distributed 4.1 million pounds of food, 2,200 crisis stabilization-kits and baby baskets to 884 individuals, 460, and more than 110,000 weekend meals in 18,000 food sacks over the summer. Through the help of the Bradenton Kiwanis Club, The Food Bank of Manatee purchased a refrigerated truck to deliver fresh produce to children and families that need it most.

Together, We Feed Manatee!

Runners Collect Food for The Food Bank of Manatee

Manatee County raced to feed hungry families this Thanksgiving season. On Thanksgiving morning, the Bradenton Runners Club held their 21st annual Turkey Trot – ‘Give to Run 5K’. Participants donated cash or canned-food to The Food Bank of Manatee, in lieu of registration fees, ensuring-hunger relief in Manatee County. This year, more than 1,000 pounds of food was collected, providing more than 800 meals.

On Tuesday, Nov 20th, runners at Endurance House Sarasota/Bradenton carried 15 frozen turkeys to a ‘Turkey Drop’ destination during their weekly Tuesday-night 5K run. These turkeys were donated to The Food Bank of Manatee to help make a memorable Thanksgiving for food-insecure families in Manatee.

Home Delivered Meal ClientVolunteers

Meals on Wheels PLUS is in critical need of volunteer drivers. We need volunteers to distribute hot, nutritious meals and smiles to isolated seniors and provide vital wellness checks. During the holidays, our volunteers deliver lap robes as well as holiday shoeboxes stuffed with presents for the clients.

There is no long-term commitment. You decide which days you can to deliver. 2-hours a week can help feed someone who really needs it.
