13th Annual Shoe Box Reception & Holiday Mart

Please join us at The Grande Clubhouse at The Lake Club, Sunday, December 2nd from 5 pm to 7 pm for the 13th Annual Holiday Shoe Box Reception. Our goal is to collect 1000 shoe boxes that will be delivered to home-bound seniors during the holiday season. These boxes are often times the only present seniors receive.

Bring a wrapped shoe box filled with items such as toiletries, puzzle books, moisturizing lotion, pens/pencils, trinkets, and slipper socks (or a $20 donation to Meals on Wheels PLUS).

Enjoy light snacks, a cash bar, a silent auction, and a holiday marketplace—all to benefit the seniors in Manatee County!

For detailed guidelines on the shoe boxes click here.

So Much to Be Thankful For

Big shout out to all of our Meals on Wheels PLUS volunteers that spent Thanksgiving delivering 550 hot meals and hugs across 52 routes in Manatee! We are so grateful! On #GivingTuesday Tuesday, November 27th. We raised over $30,000 on November 27th through your generosity. We steadfastly continue our mission of assisting individuals to live independently by providing nutrition and caring services through the PLUS programs of home-delivered meals, The Food Bank of Manatee, Daybreak Adult Day Center, The Enrichment Center, and Friendship Dining. Last but not least, a special thanks to Truman’s Bar & Grill and all of our Startender Bartenders and guests that supported Cocktails for a Cause!

We are so TRULY grateful for the support to our mission!

Runners Collect Food for The Food Bank of Manatee

Manatee County raced to feed hungry families this Thanksgiving season. On Thanksgiving morning, the Bradenton Runners Club held their 21st annual Turkey Trot – ‘Give to Run 5K’. Participants donated cash or canned-food to The Food Bank of Manatee, in lieu of registration fees, ensuring-hunger relief in Manatee County. This year, more than 1,000 pounds of food was collected, providing more than 800 meals.

On Tuesday, Nov 20th, runners at Endurance House Sarasota/Bradenton carried 15 frozen turkeys to a ‘Turkey Drop’ destination during their weekly Tuesday-night 5K run. These turkeys were donated to The Food Bank of Manatee to help make a memorable Thanksgiving for food-insecure families in Manatee.
