The 26th Annual Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive

On Saturday, May 12th, postal carriers in Manatee County will pick up non-perishable food items along their routes and partner with The Food Bank of Manatee by collecting critical food donations. Manatee County residents can leave bags of non-perishable foods by their mailboxes on May 12th.

To ensure donations are received by The Food Bank of Manatee, residents can drop off donations between 1 pm and 5 pm at the following post offices: Palmetto – 520 7th Street West, Palmetto; Ellenton – 2605 72nd Avenue East, Ellenton; Parrish – 12144 US Highway 301 North, Parrish; Bradenton Beach – 116 Bridge Street, Bradenton Beach, or The Food Bank of Manatee, 811 23rd Avenue East.

Nearly 58,000 households in Manatee County are food insecure, of which 14,000 individuals are children. Approximately 43% of the households in Manatee County are in danger of falling into poverty, earning less than the cost of living. The Food Bank of Manatee is the largest crisis relief organization in Manatee bridging the gap between those food-insecure and the nutrition they need.

Older Americans Month

May is Older Americans Month

Join us in celebrating Older Americans Month! Led by the Administration for Community Living (ACL), Older Americans Month is a time to celebrate older adults, their stories, and their contributions to our society.

The 2018 theme, Engage at Every Age, emphasizes that you are never too old (or young) to take part in activities that can enrich your physical, mental, and emotional well-being. It also celebrates the many ways in which older adults make a difference in our communities.

Let’s celebrate Older Americans Month. Snap some senior selfies and tag us in them on social media:

2018 Tropical Nights
Disco Lights Silver Edition

We are so excited to share the outcome of our 25th Anniversary of Tropical Nights and we thank you all for supporting this sold-out fundraising event.

It was a glorious evening at the Fete Ballroom under the disco lights! Our guests relished a delicious dinner prepared and served by The Polo Grill. The Cool Today Lounge was a popular spot for guests to enjoy a Disco Lemonade. John “Leo” Travolta brought us straight back to the 70’s along with many of our guests wearing incredibly creative outfits. The atmosphere was lively and our guests were very engaged. Not only was Tropical Nights a fun filled evening for our guests to enjoy; we raised over $100,000 to benefit the PLUS Programs of Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee!

Don’t go anywhere, Meals on Wheels PLUS already has some big plans in the works for Tropical Nights program in 2019… Hot Havana Nights is coming Friday, March 22, 2019!
