Home-delivered Meals FAQ
Q: What is a Home-delivered Meal?
A: Home-delivered Meals are nutritious, hot meals meeting your dietary needs, delivered to your doorstep by one of our caring volunteers or staff members. Most meals include a serving of lean protein, a starch, a vegetable, dessert, wholewheat bread, butter, and milk. Other meal options, such as pureed meals are available.
Along with the meal, we provide our clients with nutrition information, social interaction, a safety check to make sure they are doing okay in their home, and an assessment of any changes that might impact their future medical needs. This can mean the difference between independent living at home and an unwelcome transfer to a costly long-term care facility.
Q: What can I expect in the Home-delivered Meal I receive?
A: The hot, nutritious, meals each contain one-third of the minimum daily nutritional requirements for senior adults. Each meal includes the following:
- 1 serving of a lean protein (beef, chicken, turkey, pork, or fish)
- 1-2 servings of starch (potato, wholewheat pasta, or brown rice)
- 1-2 servings of vegetables
- 1 dessert (pudding or fruit)
All meals are served with 8 oz of 1% low-fat milk and one slice of whole wheat bread and butter. Additionally, each meal contains at least 600 calories and less than 800 mg of sodium.
Q: Can I choose the type of food I want to receive?
A: Yes. A monthly meal menu is distributed to all Home-delivered Meals clients and substitutions are available based on your nutritional needs and preferences.
All Home-delivered Meals provide one-third of the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) and are approved by registered dietitians. Pureed meals are also available for individuals who have special needs.
We offer a variety of daily hot or chilled meal types. Home delivery of frozen meals for weekends and holidays is also available.
Q: When and how are the meals delivered?
A: The meals are delivered Monday through Friday between 10:45 am and 1:45 pm. You must be home to receive your meal. Due to temperature control and food safety standards, meals cannot be left outside your home.

Q: If I am not home, can the driver leave my meal by the door?
