Food Bank Warehouse Driver
Job Summary:
The Food Bank Warehouse Driver is responsible for all functions of Food Bank warehouse operations as well as driving throughout the community for donation pickups. This includes assisting partner agencies and pantries, donors and volunteers as needed.
Major Responsibilities:
- Ability to drive up to a 26-ft box truck efficiently, safely, and professionally to pick up and deliver loads.
- Greet and assist agencies with the food selection process during their appointed times; write up invoices and load agency vehicles.
- Greet donors that are dropping off donations, weigh, record, write up donation slip for donors.
- Assist volunteers and community service people that are sorting food, bring down pallets, move full pallets, and put food away.
- Assist with store pickups or barrel deliveries as required by volume of need.
- Weigh food pallets and record information for monthly inventory.
- Utilize the forklift with the loading or unloading of trucks as well as the ability to operate pallet jacks (manual and electric) to move food in the warehouse.
- Clean warehouse, freezer, and cooler, take out trash, organize shelves and pallets by FIFO method to ensure Food Bank is clean and organized.
- Report on any equipment repairs needed for the Food Bank General Manager.
- Assist with all Food Bank food drives and events, when needed.
- Maintain a good working relationship with agencies and other staff members.
- Fulfill Saturday store pick-up assignments on a rotating basis as needed – at least 1x monthly.
- Other duties and tasks as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Graduate or equivalent.
- Must maintain a clean driving record with an active Florida Driver’s License to meet the Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee’s insurance requirements.
Special Skills, Tools, Technology Requirements:
- Must be able to stand/walk for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift 50lbs by oneself, or 100lbs with assistance.
- Must maintain and keep an active Food Sanitation Certification.
- Must possess, or be able to get a forklift certification within 30 days of employment.
- Must possess or be able to get a forklift certification within 30 days of employment
- Must be customer service focused.
- Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing.
- Must be able to work in an environment with possible exposure to inclement weather, high temperatures or extremely cold temperatures.
- Must be able to work in environment with possible exposure to hazardous materials, high temperatures, or extremely cold temperatures.
- Must follow all safety procedures.
Classification: Full Time/Non-Exempt
Weekdays 7:00am-3:30pm + one (1) Saturday per month
