Life Enrichment Assistant (Friendship Dining Centers)
Job Summary:
Prepares, organizes, and conducts engaging activities and events designed to keep participants active and enhance their life at our Friendship Dining Centers (FDC) sites. Encourages an enjoyable and supportive environment for clients by collaborating with other staff members, where effective communication and teamwork are essential.
Major Responsibilities:

Collaborates with the team to design and implement engaging group and individual activities that cater to the interests and abilities of the clients.

Monitors clients and reports observations to the ADC Manager.

Assists clients with daily living activities, promoting independence and dignity.

Ensures that FDC sites display the appropriate signage and maintain a high standard of cleanliness.

Cleans kitchen after each meal and snack as assigned and participates in the serving and temping meals. Checks kitchen and bathrooms daily to determine supplies needed at all centers.

Performs kitchen tasks (preparing for meals) and meal service as assigned.

Able to travel to various FDC site locations and facilitate the weekly program.

May assist at Daybreak, our Adult Day Center (ADC) including assists clients with personal care, mobility, personal hygiene, and clothing changes, ensuring they feel comfortable and respected.

Ensure safety of the clients, volunteers, and location by following established internal safety procedures, as well as CDC and OSHA guidelines.

Address and report on accidents and injuries as needed, calling appropriate authorities and management within prescribed internal procedure.

Participates in daily record keeping.

Participates in staff meetings, in-service training and other relevant training as needed.

May perform other duties as assigned to contribute to the overall well-being of the clients and the centers.
Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Experience working in the aging field, preferably 2 – 3 years.
- Must be at least 23 year of age and have a good driving record to meet the Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee insurance requirements.
Special Skills, Tools, Technology Requirements:

Must participate in Dementia/Alzheimer’s training within 90 days of hire.

Must have strong verbal communication skills.

Demonstrates strong ability to lead senior activities.

Must demonstrate an interest in working with the senior population.

Interacts with participants and staff in a courteous, empathetic, friendly and professional manner.

Must be able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.

Maintains confidentiality adhering to HIPAA requirements.

Must have ability to solve problems and discuss any concerns with the management team.

Must train and become CPR certified.

Proof of a negative TB test and Physician’s statement of being free from communicable diseases to be done within 45 days prior to hire.

A team player who positively engages with other staff, volunteers, and clients.
- Specific vision abilities are required to include close vision and distance vision.
- Must be able to push a wheelchair.
- Must be able to bend and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
Classification: Part-Time/Non-Exempt, 24 Hours a week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday)
