Life Enrichment Assistant (Adult Day Services)

Job Summary:

Prepares, plans, organizes and conducts therapeutic activities designed to keep participants active and enhance their quality of life. Assists with participant’s personal care while they attend the center. Ability to travel to congregate dining sites when needed.

Major Responsibilities: 

  1. Assists the Life Enrichment Assistant Lead Supervisor in planning and implementing group and individual activities based on functional needs and interests of the clients.
  2. Carries out the plan of care; observes and reports observation of clients to Life Enrichment Lead Supervisor and/or Nurse.
  3. Assists clients with limited activities of daily living.
  4. Cleans kitchen after each meal and snack as assigned and participates in the serving of the meal. Checks kitchen and bathrooms daily to determine supplies needed.
  5. Assists with the daily operation, activities and the daily cleaning of the Adult Day Center.
  6. Performs kitchen tasks and meal service as assigned.
  7. Provides back up coverage for Friendship Dining Centers as necessary.
  8. Assists clients with personal care, ambulation, personal hygiene, and clothing change.
  9. Participates in daily record keeping and documentation of client attendance.
  10. Participates in staff meetings, in-service training and other relevant training.
  11. May perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Experience working in the aging field.

Special Skills, Tools, Technology Requirements:

  1. Must participate in Dementia/Alzheimer’s training within 90 days of hire
  2. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  3. Demonstrates strong ability to lead senior activities.
  4. Must demonstrate an interest in working with the senior population.
  5. Interacts with participants and staff in a courteous, empathetic, friendly and professional manner.
  6. Must be able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
  7. Maintains confidentiality adhering to HIPPA requirements.
  8. Must have ability to problem solve and discuss any concerns with the management team.
  9. Must train and become CPR certified.
  10. Proof of a negative TB test and a Healthcare Professional’s statement of being free from communicable diseases to be done within 45 days prior to hire.
  11. Specific vision abilities required to include close vision and distance vision.
  12. Must be able to push up to 250 pounds (wheelchair).
  13. Must be able to bend and lift up to 25 pounds.
  14. Must be able to stand for long periods of time.

Classification: Part Time/Non-exempt (27 hours/week)

Reports To: ADC Manager
