Nurse (RN/LPN) – Adult Day Services
Job Summary:
To provide limited nursing care and education to clients, families, and caregivers.
Major Responsibilities:
- Provides limited nursing care to each client in the Adult Day Center, supervises medication and treatment in accordance with physician orders and continually assesses participant’s status.
- Initiates the care plan for each client with other members of the ADC team. Assists in the development of the care plan at quarterly reviews.
- Conducts the initial assessment of the clients.
- Maintains nursing records, progress notes, monthly vital signs and weights, and quarterly review schedule.
- Must maintain appropriate working knowledge of eCIRTS, AIMS and all other applicable software programs necessary.
- Assumes responsibility and authority of the Adult Day Center in the absences of the ADC Manager.
- Encourage client participation on nutrition, 20 minutes daily exercise, personal hygiene, medication and other related topics.
- Communicates with caregivers and health care professionals.
- Participates in staff meetings, in-service and other relevant training.
- May perform other duties as assigned by the Adult Day Manager
Minimum Requirements:
- One-to-two-year certificate from college or technical school for LPN licensure, or 2 year or 4 year degree in nursing for R.N. licensure preferred.
- Nursing License in good standing with State of Florida Department of Health.
- Prior experience working in the gerontology care field.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
Special Skills, Tools, Technology Requirements:
- Must have strong, effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret physician orders, reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to use Microsoft Windows, including Word and Excel. Ability to use email and the Internet.
- Must demonstrate an interest in working with the senior population.
- Provide leadership by exhibiting confidence in self and others, inspires and motivates others to perform well.
- Maintains confidentiality adhering to HIPPA requirements.
- Interacts with participants and staff in a courteous and friendly manner.
- Responds promptly to participant needs and assistance.
- Knowledge of current principles, methods, and standards of nursing.
- Knowledge of human development, including the process of aging.
- Knowledge of community health and medical resources.
- Ability to bend and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Maintain knowledge of current Florida AHCA rules and regulations pertaining to Adult Day Center Services.
- Alzheimer Training (initial required by State).
- Receive certification in eCIRTS Training provided by the DOEAA.
- Proof of a negative TB test within 45 days prior to hire.
Classification: Full Time/Exempt
(40 HR/Week, 7:00am-4:00pm)
