Produce on Wheels

Produce on Wheels is a new PLUS program of Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee bringing fresh fruits and vegetables to clients in Manatee County. The Produce on Wheels inaugural delivery day was Wednesday, July 25th. Volunteers delivered a bag of fruits and veggies including an educational info card with a recipe as well as their regularly delivered hot, nutritious meals. The program will repeat the fourth Wednesday of each month. Produce on Wheels is made possible by funding provided by Bank of America, Senior Connection Center, and Faith United Church of Christ.

Community Food Drive

There are over 50,000 food insecure men, women, and children living in Manatee. The Food Bank of Manatee will continue to operate as a vital resource for Manatee County offering collections and distributions of approximately 2 million pounds of food. We will secure this food through our strong community partnerships, including food drives, donations, and grants.

You can help The Food Bank of Manatee provide hunger-relief to those in need by hosting a food drive and collecting non-perishable foods. Call 941-747-FOOD or email to request a donation barrel to be dropped off at your school, business, faith or civic organization, gym, or neighborhood clubhouse.

Sack Summer Hunger Update

As summer comes to an end and students prepare for school, The Food Bank of Manatee’s “Sack Summer Hunger” campaign is continuing to distribute weekend meals for students until August 10th. Nearly 80,000 meals have been distributed this summer, leaving the shelves at the food bank in need of replenishing. Your gift of time, talent, and treasure to The Food Bank of Manatee will ensure that food and support will continue to food-insecure families in Manatee County. To donate, visit

Senior Citizens Day

In recognition for the contributions to the United States, President Ronald Reagan and the U.S. Congress declared August 21st, 1988 to be the first National Senior Citizens day. At Meals on Wheels PLUS, we are serious about our seniors. Nearly 200,000 hot, nutritious meals and smiles are delivered annually to homebound seniors.

At Daybreak Adult Day Center, we ensure the well-being of our seniors through activities, social interaction, and nutrition. We encourage an active and socially engaged lifestyle for our members aged 50+ at the Enrichment Center on 9th. For more information, visit
