Sack Summer Hunger 2017 Update
The Food Bank of Manatee County’s “Sack Summer Hunger” campaign is in week 4 and off to a great start toward reaching its goal of handing out 10,000 weekend food sacks (totaling 60,000 meals) to hungry kids in Manatee. “It’s always great to see the kids’ eyes light up when they run up and get a weekend food sack,” recalls Cindy Sloan, Vice President and Director of the Food Bank, “because in the end, that’s what it all about, really…It’s all about the kids.”
Food bags can be picked up at any of the Manatee County Library Branches, South East High School, Lincoln Park and Bradenton Village. Click here for more information on “Sack Summer Hunger”…
Meals on Wheels PLUS in Critical Need of Volunteer Drivers
The summer months are a crucial time of year for Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee’s home-delivered meals program. Many volunteers have gone north for the summer which leaves a gap in coverage of the 53 routes in Manatee County. The need for volunteers is great and we are looking for Champions to step in and deliver hot, nutritious meals and smiles to those that depend on us. To get started volunteering, call (941) 747-4655 or email email@example.com
Be a C.H.A.M.P.,
The Community Humanitarian Advocate Meal Partnership (C.H.A.M.P.) provides businesses and organizations the opportunity to empower their employees and members to give back to the community. There are plenty of ways to get involved. Adopt a meal-delivery route, pack and sort at the Food Bank of Manatee, host a food drive or fundraiser, “corporate match” a fundraiser, or adopt a beautification project. To become a C.H.A.M.P., call (941) 747-4655 or email firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com

Painting Shirts Needed
Clients at Daybreak Adult Day Center have lots of creative activities to participate in keeping them active, social, and independent. The painting class is a favorite so supplies are always tight. Men’s large painting smocks or shirts, in particular, are in high demand. If you have extra long-sleeved, button-down shirts hanging in your closet or unused painting supplies, please consider donating to Daybreak. Donations can be dropped off at the Adult Day Center, 10920 State Road 70 East, Lakewood Ranch, 34202.
