Sack Summer Hunger

Hunger is curable. Now is the time to act. The Food Bank of Manatee will be distributing 10,000 weekend food sacks to school-aged children in Manatee County every Friday from June 9th through August 4th. The Food Bank of Manatee is also accepting donations now through the end of summer to support the Sack Summer Hunger campaign. If you have non-perishable food items to contribute to the Sack Summer Hunger campaign, The Food Bank, is open for donations Monday – Friday, 8:30 am to 3 pm. What do you give to a father who has everything? Honor dad with a very special tribute or in memoriam gift to Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee. Approximately $130 can provide a whole month of meals from Meals on Wheels PLUS for a home-bound senior. Cards of acknowledgement will be mailed upon request to the honoree or to their family. Wonder Woman Red Carpet Premiere

Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee announces they are the beneficiary of a sold-out special red carpet movie premiere of Wonder Woman at Cinebistro located at 3501 S Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL 34239 on Friday, June 2, 2017, at 5:30 pm for the pre-party event and 7:15 pm show time. All proceeds from this premiere will benefit the PLUS Programs of Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee.

Meals on Wheels PLUS and Renaissance on 9th to Host Blood Drive

OneBlood’s Big Red Bus will hold a blood drive at Renaissance on 9th on Monday, June 12, from 11 am to 3 pm. One in three people will need a blood transfusion in their lifetime. Blood donations not only help save lives, but also aid in faster healing for surgery patients. Give blood and receive a voucher for a free cup of soup at the 9th Street Bistro inside Renaissance on 9th, cookies, juice and a special gift. Make your appointment to donate blood here…

If you’re not already eating enough of these fruits and veggies, this month is a great time to start! The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) recommends that you make half your plate at every meal consist of fruits and vegetables. Eating fruits and vegetables may reduce risk of disease. 2017 Tribute to Heroes Block Party & Parade

Meals on Wheels PLUS family and friends honored our local fallen veterans and heroes and celebrated Memorial Day Weekend while marching in Lakewood Ranch’s 2017 Tribute to Heroes Block Party & Parade.
