For far too many children, summer is filled with uncertainty about where their next meal will come from.

When the last school bell rings, summer should mean sunshine, freedom, and fun. For thousands of children in Manatee County, it means something else entirely.

It means no school meals, and that’s where you come in.

This summer, The Food Bank of Manatee’s Sack Summer Hunger/Food4Families programs will step in to bridge the gap. While the School District of Manatee ensures children receive hot, prepared meals Monday through Friday at Summer Break Spots, weekends remain a critical void.

FEEDING HUNGARY KIDS THIS SUMMER

So, every Friday, we follow the School District’s Break Spot buses into the neighborhoods that need us most — delivering bags of food designed to carry families through the weekend.

Each bag provides:

  • Breakfast
  • Lunch
  • Dinner

Enough to feed a family of five for two or more days.

That’s 30 meals — because of one act of generosity!

YOUR GIFT IN ACTION

$45 = 30 meals

$90 = 60 meals

$150 = 100 meals

Thanks to our wholesale buying power, every meal costs just $1.50 — stretching your impact further than ever.

Over the nine-week summer break, our goal is to provide 200,000 meals to families who need it most. That’s more than 22,000 meals each week, nourishing at least 18,000 children across our community.
