Home-Delivered Meals

Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee depends solely upon its volunteers to deliver daily meals. Our volunteers consistently describe this as the best job they’ve ever had!

Delivering meals only requires 1½ hours, one day per week. If a specific area is desired, routes are conveniently available throughout Manatee County and several options are available for meal pick-ups.

Pack & Sort Food

There is always a need for a helping hand at The Food Bank of Manatee. As food donations come in, volunteers are needed to sort foods into like-kind categories. Volunteers also assist in packing food baskets for babies and crisis stabilization kits for families in need in our area. There are also opportunities to distribute summer hunger sacks.

Daybreak Adult Day Center

Daybreak Adult Day Center serves older adults in Manatee County with a planned program that includes a variety of health, social, and supportive services in a protective setting during daytime hours. Volunteers assist the professionally trained staff, including an LPN, who operate the program’s daily activities.

Special Events

Join us for special fundraising events throughout the year to benefit Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee. Your school, club, business, or organization can become involved. Contact us to find out what is coming up next or visit our Events page.

Office Assistance

Occasionally, we are in need of volunteers in our offices for clerical work such as stuffing or labeling envelopes. If you enjoy office work, contact us to be added to our contact list.

Friendship Dining

Your time and talents may be needed at our Friendship Dining Centers, where seniors gather each weekday morning to exercise, enjoy entertainment, learn arts and crafts, and enjoy a hot, nutritious meal.

In the midst of this unprecedented circumstance, we are working to fulfill the rising needs and costs of our programs to ensure essential nutrition is available to our home-bound seniors, children, and families who do not have access to meals.

We are beyond grateful for the overwhelming response from those interested in volunteering at Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee! The numbers of those wanting to volunteer exceeds what we can currently accommodate due to the guidelines issued by the CDC. The needs in our community are great and will continue to grow. We encourage everyone interested in lending a hand to mobilize a non-perishable food collection or purchase items online to be delivered directly to us.

Specifically needed items: canned vegetables, baby cereal & formula, canned fruits, mac ‘n’ cheese, peanut butter, jelly, boxed rice, boxed pasta, canned soups, canned meat, 100% fruit juices, breakfast bars, oatmeal, powdered milk, apple sauce, dried beans, trail mix, and healthy cereals. Please avoid glass containers.
