Procurement Manager
Job Summary:
Oversee the day-to-day logistics of food acquisition through donors of all sizes with the
goal of increasing food resources for the partner agencies and pantries we serve.
Major Responsibilities:
- Develop procurement strategies to solicit food donations from manufacturers and
distributors, and other food suppliers not currently partnering with The Food Bank of Manatee - Work closely with existing food donors to deepen partnerships and increase the amount of food donations received
- Foster relationships with partner independent food banks of the Association of Independent Food Banks
- Identify retail store partners for pick-up of donated food items
- Work closely with the Food Bank General Manager to coordinate the pickup and distribution of these donations.
- Generate, in conjunction with the Food Bank General Manager, monthly/quarterly/annual food procurement reporting by product category
- Collaborate with and serve as back-up to the Food Bank General Manager and gain a complete understanding of all facets of this position
- Able to provide support to the VP -Food Bank & Transportation Operations
- May perform other duties as required
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in social services or related field
- Seasoned Professional with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the food service or procurement industry,
or similar logistical function, to include purchasing, packaging & distribution, costing, scheduling, and inventory control - A minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience
- Experience working in a warehouse setting, preferably in a food warehouse environment
- Must be at least 23 years old with a good driving record to meet Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee’s insurance requirement

- Superior skills in supply chain and logistics and procurement
- Superior oral and written communication skills
- Extremely detailed oriented, as well as provide strategic assessments
- Able to forecast/predict workflow and needs, i.e., holiday schedules
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task and to solve problems
- Proficient in MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; and databases
- Able to bend, lift, carry, push, and pull 25 pounds or 50 pounds with assistance
- Able to sit or stand for extended periods
- Able to frequently walk or travel throughout the day
- Must have accurate hearing and vision for all functions of job
Classification: Non-exempt, M-F, 7:00am-3:30pm
Compensation: $26.44/hour
