Feeding Manatee County
I have had the honor of leading and serving at Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee since 2012. In that time, we have seen our organization rise to meet the many challenges surrounding food-insecurity for babies, children, families, and seniors in our community. For several years, our Board of Directors and staff have been working toward the expansion and renovation of our physical property located at 811 23rd Avenue East in Bradenton, where we have been located since 1981. We have been on a thoughtful and strategic path to increase efficiencies and address differed maintenance costs for several years. Now, thanks to a generous bequest and restricted donations, that dream is becoming a reality.
As we work to feed more people than ever before due to the many impacts of the global pandemic, we are approaching our work with a fresh, determined focus. The pandemic illuminated for us that our core programs truly are life-saving services. As we continue to navigate our way out of the pandemic, we are focused on moving forward: on reducing food-insecurity for Manatee County residents; on providing nutrition education for children, families, and seniors; and providing programing that combats isolation while providing nutrition, care, and hope.
We invite you to join us in this effort as we come together to focus on our future.
